In addition to the film\, your ticket includes a cinema-style snack selection\, with additional hot and cold drinks available for purchase. \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from the event help support Newquay Orchard’s community programs\, fostering sustainability\, education\, and social impact. \n\n\n\nOur February film is ‘#ClimateScam? \n\n\n\nDespite all the evidence of rising global temperatures and climate-related disasters – and almost 100% consensus among the world’s climate scientists about what is causing this – there are still a surprising number of people who do not believe we are facing a climate emergency. \n\n\n\nOthers go further and think the climate is being artificially altered by scientists as part of an evil plan to make tech billionaires richer\, enable a ‘globalist’ government to take control of our lives and kill off large swathes of the population. \n\n\n\nClimate conspiracies\, whipped up by social media algorithms that push the most extreme viewpoints to the fore\, have resulted in death threats being made against people like city councillors trying to introduce traffic reduction schemes and weather forecasters trying to keep people safe from hurricanes. \n\n\n\nWhy are these conspiracy theories so popular? Who or what is behind them? And do any of them actually hold a grain of truth?

But is this too simplistic a picture – and what would this mean for Cornwall\, where the majority of our farmland is used to raise livestock or to grow crops for these animals to eat? \n\n\n\nFood for Thought looks at the undeniable impacts of modern animal agriculture as well as some of the incredible Cornish initiatives underway to mitigate them – and also the role that regenerative farming could play in actually combating climate change while producing nutritious food. \n\n\n\nPresented by organic beef farmer Lisa Guy\, this film aims to inspire much-needed conversation and action about a crucial subject that has become one of the most contentious within the climate debate.

In the UK this is compounded by the fact that we import nearly 50% of all our food …. and then we waste one-third of it. \n\n\n\nHungry for Change is presented by a forager who takes us on a fascinating and inspiring journey to meet people in Cornwall working on ways for us to “do food better” as the climate changes – from the gleaners picking ‘waste’ crops in our fields to projects growing food in unusual places\, and a microbiologist keen to get us all eating low-carbon insects.

SUMMARY:Therapeutic Yoga for Stress and Anxiety - 4 week course
DESCRIPTION:This 4 week yoga therapy based course is designed to lead you on a journey inwards. Through the process we will learn how anxiety and stress affect our nervous system\, and how to use yoga as a therapeutic tool to manage and reduce symptoms. You will have the opportunity to learn about yoga on a much deeper level than most general classes.​ \n\n\n\nThe weekly practice will incorporate a combination of postures (asanas)\, breathing techniques (pranayama)\, meditation\, yoga nidra and relaxation. It is specifically designed to rebalance the nervous system and teach you how to regulate mood and emotions using yoga tools. By practicing mindfully you are encouraged to explore your inner landscape\, thoughts\, sensations and habitual patterns with compassionate awareness. You will be held in a supportive group environment by a responsible and professional yoga teacher/yoga therapist. There will be time in each session for sharing\, although this is not required\, and you are welcome to use this time for quiet self reflection and rest. \n\n\n\nThe weekly sessions will run for up to an hour each Sunday. Each week we will build on the previous and will have a theme. It is necessary to come each week to experience the most benefit. \n\n\n\nAside from the weekly group sessions you will receive some tools or a short practice to do at home. Autonomy and self awareness are a valuable aspect of the healing process. While it is very supportive and beneficial to work in a group setting\, the practices you do at home will contribute greatly to supporting you day to day. \n\n\n\nNo previous yoga experience is required but some understanding of yoga philosophy will help you experience the process more deeply. Due to the nature of the class you will need to be able to get up and down from a mat on the floor. \n\n\n\nThe group classes will take place at Newquay Orchard in one of the classrooms. \n\n\n\nHow is Yoga Therapy different from Yoga? ​ \n\n\n\nThis course has been created using yoga therapy techniques designed to address specific symptoms shared by a group. While a general yoga class has the potential for therapeutic effect (such as focused breathing and movement to help release tension)\, with yoga therapy we are using yoga tools and their known benefits to address very specific symptoms. For example if you suffer from anxiety your nervous system is probably always in sympathetic (fight or flight) mode and your breathing may be shallow rapid or short\, to address this we need to learn to breath slowly and deeply to shift into the parasympathetic (rest and restore) state.
