DESCRIPTION:The mixture of comedy\, songs and some hard-hitting facts made for an electric evening\, and then the space for chats and tunes after was just what I needed\, thank you so much for this transformative event – viva la vulva!’ – Audience Member at The Riot Showgrrrls Club\, 2022 \n\n\n\nThe Riot Showgrrrls Club is a cabaret show and participatory craftivism event using humour\, songs and storytelling to entertain and encourage conversation about how much better than porn actual sex is. \n\n\n\nImagine a club where you are greeted with sparkling wine\, a suggestive cake and the feminist hand-stamp of your choosing… \n\n\n\nIn this club you are part of a show that combines Patriarchy Bingo\, PowerPoint and madrigals about the vulva in a fast-paced\, feel-good (mostly) feminist fling about great sex in an age of terrible porn. \n\n\n\nThe Riot Showgrrrls Club is run by your hosts\, glamorous comediennes and singers who have the truth-telling powers of Cassandra\, the political punch of Gloria Steinem and the high quality daftness of Melissa McCarthy (in her great films like the Heat and Spy\, not those rubbish ones her husband directs). \n\n\n\nHow does such a night end? Well\, after the show you stay on in the club to listen to the women-only DJ set\, make your own club membership card with our Radical Craftivist\, have some more drinks and get your conversation on – ‘cos in our revolution we’ll find sisterhood and there will be dancing! \n\n\n\nOriginally commissioned for the Gilded Balloon\, Edinburgh in 2008\, when lad mags were in their heyday\, cabaret meant tit tassels and female stripping and porn was being mainstreamed right into our cultural veins\, Scary Little Girls bravely took a pro-sex anti-porn show to Edinburgh. \n\n\n\nDoors open: 7pm – food and drinks available from Heart and Soul café

SUMMARY:All Out at Sea - Linocut Printing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:About the artist.. \n\n\n\nHello\, Im Sarah Raybould\, a self taught artist who moved from the East Yorkshire coast 5 years ago to Newquay\, Cornwall. Always lived within a seagulls cry of the sea\, the coast has been for me a place for contemplation\, inspiration and inner peace. I have a great love of the outdoors\, be it the mountains\, forests or the sea\, walking\, swimming or just thoughtfully sitting. It has long been that awe inspiring feeling I love that nature gives to us.  \n\n\n\nI recently found a new enthusiasm for printing and I continue to explore mixing different media and finding ways to capture the beauty of nature. \n\n\n\nMy workshops are aimed at beginners and to explore a new skill and to have some fun. So I aim to keep it simple\, I tend to turn to nature for inspiration\, plants\, flowers\, leaves\, items from the seaside\, shells and pebbles for example. With March and April here upon us\, you may wish to look at spring themes for cards and gifts\, it’s entirely up to you. \n\n\n\n    With the workshop fairly short it is a good idea to bring your ideas/ designs with you ready to transfer on to the lino. We will be working on an A6 size tile\, I will have paper and card to print on to and some blank cards if you do wish to use them to put your prints on. Remember to keep your designs simple\, less is sometimes better\, don’t be over ambitious! I will show you the basic mark making skills and how to use the tools safely. \n\n\n\nAll you need to bring with you is.. \n\n\n\n*Drawing materials ( pencil\, eraser etc.) \n\n\n\n*An apron or coverall or just an old shirt.. just in case! \n\n\n\n*Something to put your prints in to take them home ( the printing ink takes a while to dry) \n\n\n\nPlease let me know if you have any requirements or requests.. DESCRIPTION:Newquay Orchard is screening the eagerly anticipated documentary film: Six Inches of Soil.\n\n\n\nThe film tells the inspiring story of young British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food – to heal the soil\, our health and provide for local communities.  \n\n\n\nThe screening will take place at Newquay Orchard’s Heart & Soul Cafe\, on Friday 12th April\, doors from 6pm\, screening starts at 7pm. \n\n\n\nJoin us from 6pm for food made with produce grown onsite just meters away\, and finish the evening with a panel discussion with local experts Laurence Jarrett-Kerr (Managing Director of Soul Farm)\, Julian Donald (Senior Advisor for Natural England)\, with other panelists to be announced.   \n\n\n\nSix Inches of Soil follows three new farmers on the first year of their regenerative journey – Anna Jackson\, a Lincolnshire 11th generation arable and sheep farmer; Adrienne Gordon\, a Cambridgeshire small-scale vegetable farmer; and Ben Thomas\, who rears pasture fed beef cattle in Cornwall. As the trio strive to adopt regenerative practices and create viable businesses\, they meet seasoned mentors who help them on their journey. They’re joined by other experts providing wisdom and solutions from a growing movement of people who are dedicated to changing the trajectory for food\, farming and the planet. We’re excited to host this screening and to share the positive messages in the film to help shift UK food and farming towards more regenerative\, agroecological practices for a more resilient system. We’re excited for the event and can’t wait to see the ideas and thoughts that come from the meaningful discussions that will follow the screening. Claire Mackenzie\, Six Inches of Soil Producer adds\, “Community screenings are a hugely important part of our impact campaign. Come and enjoy this 7 course taster menu\, infused with foraged ingredients and the Orchard’s home grown produce. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmma has been running foraging walks and talks for the last 20 years\, from the Eden Project\, Heligan\, St. Michael’s Mount\, Philleigh Way Cookery School to River Cottage. Emma has had a passion for plants from a young age. She studied garden design\, worked in horticulture at the Eden Project for 22 years and had varying roles in the subject\, from drawing the original exhibit plans to creating fabulous floral displays for the sessions. \n\n\n\nAt the age of eleven\, she hoped to become an herbalist but a few years later discovered the wonderful world of foraging. Inspired by Roger Phillips (the Godfather of Foraging)\, she went on a quest to learn everything she could about edible plants and their uses. With a love of cooking and plants\, this is the perfect combination!
