Matt’s Story

I was overworking myself at work, feeling quite abused and taken advantage of. I had a mental breakdown and came off the rails a bit. I thought I needed to seek some help so I went to a drugs counselling service. They brought me up here for lunch and I signed up for a course.

It was a way to expand my social circle and get interested in activities that weren’t work-related, to find some balance and a healthy lifestyle. Not too much of one thing, but rather open up opportunities to meet different people in different areas, who have different skills and different things to offer.

That’s essentially my journey here, and I’ve stayed here because it’s quite enjoyable. I do like being outside. I like growing food, learning… I like the banter.
