11am Imogen Tagney Re-energise and Restore With Breathwork

£ Free/donation Location: Classroom 2

The latest neuroscience is proving the health benefits of intentional breathwork on our nervous system, stress levels, digestion and vitality. This is something the ancient yogis knew thousands of years ago. The science is only just catching up! Our breath is the bridge between the conscious and unconscious. Mostly it can go unnoticed; just as with many habits and thought loops that can govern our health and the way we live our lives. However by bringing a curious, compassionate awareness to our usual patterns we become empowered with choices. Slow down, pause and recharge through the magical science of breathwork. Be sure to wrap up as we will mostly be in stillness with windows open to keep a through draft to ensure ventilation in the space. Some blankets will be available but please wear warm clothes and bring a blanket if you know you get cold easily!

10am and 4pm Lara Claringbould Moonful Wisdom

£ Donation Location: Downstairs meeting room

Some twenty years ago, Womb yoga was a class founded by Uma Dinsmore Tuli for pre and post Natal women. However, it began to attract more and more women who were neither pre nor post natal because… in essence, it felt good. It felt nourishing. It recognised cycles, menopause, skeletal variations in men and womens bodies, and *rest* as a radical act in this fast paced modern world. The womb yoga that I teach draws on this idea, from a physical perspective. I bring in aspects of the feminine energetically too, bringing awareness to phases of the feminine archetypes. And so my classes weave together the physical aspect of yoga [asana] for the female body, and also pull at the heart strings of shakti, our feminine power, so that we might be triggered to remember and reconnect with forgotten parts of self.

Energy expenditure really is up to you. I often give an option for those feeling stagnated [more umph!] and then an option for those feeling depleted. A lot has to do with phases of our cycle (whether we are in cycling years or menopause or anywhere in between). Some familiar posture may appear. I also incorporate Taoist exercises, and some acupressure point compressions, as well as tell story and speak to the feminine. One of my favourite mantras is “I honour my heart, my inner teacher”, and to summarise, that’s what we come to the mat to do. Yes we move [in ways suited to feminine architecture], yes we indulge in story and self reflection, but really we come to listen. To have space to listen to our hearts. Become embodied. Let our breath, Prana, ignite feeling. Let ourselves feel the full spectrum of being human. Can’t wait to see you on the mat!

4pm and 5pm Clare Learoyd Coast Health and Fitness Pilates

£ Free Location: Classroom 2

Coast Health and Fitness Pilates is offering a 45 minute mat-based Pilates session using traditional Pilates exercises to mobilise the spine and joints and to stretch and strengthen the muscles, especially the deep abdominal muscles.

Pilates is well-known for strengthening the ‘core’ – the small muscles in your back, your deep abdominals, pelvic floor and your glutes. Strengthening these helps you to move freely, stand with better posture, improve your breathing and feel energised. There are unseen benefits to Pilates too: it helps release emotional tension but physically relaxing the shoulders and jaw where tension is often carried, it provides stress relief through the stretching and relaxation of muscles and the powerful effect of deep and controlled breathing patterns and it provides an opportunity for mindfulness by being present and focusing on the body and the specific muscles that are being worked.

By the end of the session you should feel that you have worked, stretched and leave feeling energised. No experience necessary, the exercises are simple (but effective!). Book now: https://www.coast-fitness.co.uk/contact
