Meet the Community Health and Wellbeing Team at Newquay Orchard
At Newquay Orchard, we are proud to host the Community Health and Wellbeing Worker (CHWW) team, working in partnership with the NHS to support healthier, more connected communities. The team focuses on building trusted relationships with local residents, taking time to listen and understand what matters most to them. By working alongside individuals and families, CHWWs help people to navigate health services, access local support, and connect with activities and opportunities within the community.
The CHWW approach is centred on prevention, early support, and strengthening community connections. The team can meet residents in their homes, local cafés, or other community settings, creating comfortable and accessible spaces where people feel able to talk openly about what is affecting their health and wellbeing. They offer practical help, guidance, and encouragement around a wide range of needs. This might include support with managing long-term health conditions, improving wellbeing, reducing isolation, accessing benefits or services, or finding local groups and activities that help people feel more connected.
The team also runs a weekly drop-in session at Newquay Orchard every Thursday from 10am–12pm, where members of the community are welcome to come along and speak with a Community Health and Wellbeing Worker. This is an informal and friendly space where people can seek support, ask questions, and explore options around issues affecting their health and wellbeing.
Please note that the CHWW team are not a crisis service and are not medically trained or mental health professionals. However, they can listen, offer guidance, and help people find the most appropriate services or support where needed.
While the project is currently available to residents in specific local postcodes, the team is always happy to hear from anyone who may benefit from support or who would like to refer someone into the service.
If you would like to find out more or make a referral, please get in touch with Ellen at Ellen.brittain1@nhs.net.
