Empowering Education and Employability for a Sustainable Future

Empowering Education and Employability

We have a vibrant hub of learning, growth, and empowering social mobility here at Newquay Orchard. At the forefront is Stephanie Lenson, our dedicated Education and Employability Officer, whose passion and commitment in developing positive change for people, helps drive our educational programmes and offers so much direction for our learners.

Stephanie’s role at Newquay Orchard is multifaceted, with a primary focus on developing and delivering education and training programs using horticulture as a vehicle for career development, learning, motivation and to support personal growth and mental health.

I complete reviews with learners, and teach all day on Tuesday and Thursday. I also attend events to recruit learners and design the programme of work we will be delivering.”

Says Stephanie

The learning programmes are also tailored to the needs of local employers, and are developed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for confident steps forward into employment. A key part of Stephanie’s role is networking with local employers to create pathways for learners to transition into meaningful employment opportunities.

I love my job. It’s great to watch the growth and development of my learners.”

Stephanie’s journey to becoming an Education Officer at Newquay Orchard is a testament to the power of self-discovery and resilience. She had a varied background in business and HR apprenticeships, but then after finding the job at Newquay Orchard, she discovered a passion for education and learning development.

Stephanie and the education team are committed to bridging the gap between environment, education, and employment. Through adult courses within the ‘Sustainable Lives’ programme, and Growing Futures – the programme for young people, individuals develop valuable horticulture skills and a connection to their community and sustainability.

If you are interested in joining a course, volunteering or helping at Newquay Orchard in some way – get in touch, as we have new courses starting in May and we are enrolling now.
