YOUNG PEOPLE

Alongside volunteering and education opportunities at Newquay Orchard, our Change Coach team offer information, advice, guidance and support for young people aged 15-24 who are looking to get back into work.

If you:

  • Are aged 15–24 years old
  • Are unemployed (Currently looking for work but possibly receiving unemployment benefits of some kind.)

OR

  • Are economically inactive (not currently looking for work for a specific reason), but wishing to gain employment.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • Live in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

Then our Change Coach team may be able to help you through one of our projects.

What is COMPASS?

COMPASS is a project led by Cornwall Council with the aim of supporting 1,800 young people to find their way into education, employment and training throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The aim of COMPASS is to offer young people in the Duchy opportunities to progress, especially those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those in need of social, emotional and mental health support. All partners will work in a person-centric way, with the young person at the heart of what they do.

Through COMPASS, young people will be able to access work taster sessions, employability skills, money matters and debt management. They will gain basic skills (English, maths and English as a second language) and City & Guilds qualifications. Young people will also get to meet employers and find out about the labour market and growing job sectors in Cornwall.

What is Skills Your Way?

Skills Your Way is a project that offers any young person, who is more likely to thrive outside of traditional educational settings, education and training access appropriate to their individual needs.

Skills Your Way will help young people to access skills programmes, support, and coaching to move into and remain in sustainable education, employment or training or to re-engage in education and training. Skills Your Way will also offer targeted programmes of support that will equip young people with the best possible tools to develop skills and to be successful in their future career as well as supporting them to live a healthy, independent life.

What can we offer?

There’s no better way to get an idea of what guidance and support for young people is available than through meeting the Newquay Orchard team.
