Explore the Orchard
The Orchard is always open. Come and explore!

1. The Orchard
This is where it all began. In January 2015, the community came together and planted 120 apple trees to create a traditional orchard of south west and heritage apple varieties. Since then we have added plum, cherries and pears to the bounty. Beneath the trees grows a developing wildflower meadow teaming with insects, small mammals and birds. The trees are sheltered by windbreaks planted with hazel, cobnut and currants for all to forage and, in between, you can see new ways to grow food including edible meadows, agroforestry and perennial crops.
2. The Espalier
This beautiful walkway of trained trees is the longest in the world!
We think it is, anyway.
3. Forest Garden
This is a special forest where everything can be eaten or has a practical purpose. A great example of sustainability in nature.
4. The Community Field
Our community field is the perfect setting for picnics, games, celebrations, community gatherings and fun of all kinds.
5. Wild Wood
This untouched corner of Newquay Orchard is where you can discover and play amongst nature. A place where little ones and grown-up kids can go wild.
6. The Terraces
Our amphitheatre is a truly special theatre under the Cornish sun and stars. From Shakespeare to sea shanties, puppets to poetry, film to family fun. A stage ready for creative minds.
7. Wellbeing Hub
The Wellbeing Hub brings together health and wellbeing services in one safe, welcoming and nurturing space. From chiropractors, to counsellors, acupuncturists, sports massage, reiki and more, all surrounded by nature.
8. Kowel Gwenen (community building)
Our community building is called Kowel Gwenen - beehive in Cornish. It is truly a hive of activity for our community. A café, a co-workspace, meeting rooms, a performance space, evening classes, community groups and community services under one roof. Something for everyone.
9. The Classrooms
Learning is one of our core values and our classrooms and teaching kitchen provide an opportunity for anyone to join our learning pathways - Growing Futures for the young and Sustainable Lives for those a bit older. The Classrooms are just the start. Your pathway can wind across the whole Orchard. Where do you want to go on your learning journey?
10. An Lowarth (community growing space)
Here our volunteers come together to grow food, friendships and wellbeing. An Lowarth means garden in Cornish!
11. The Greenhouse
Our greenhouse uses recycled materials to bring new life to the Orchard. Seeds are germinated and seedlings nurtured until they are strong enough to grow outside.
12. Volunteers Hub
This is where we meet at the start of the day, learn skills and come together in conversation. In the winter it provides a place to get warm and plan the growing year whilst in the summertime it is a great spot for our volunteer get-togethers.
13. Windbreak Wood
We are blessed with views across Newquay from our orchard on the hill but, this means we bear the brunt of the Cornish weather.
The Windbreak Wood protects us from high winds and gales.
14. The Den
This outdoor classroom is a place to learn from nature for young and old. Sessions involve anything from making mud cakes and building campfires to going on bug hunts.
15. Plen An Gwari
Our 'playing place' puts the audience centre stage. Anything can happen here, from picnics and bushcraft to yoga and
