Winter Solstice

Celebrate the magic of the Winter Solstice with a day of creativity, community, and connection at our inaugural winter celebration event at Newquay Orchard. This event offers something for everyone—whether you’re looking to reconnect with nature, embrace a sustainable lifestyle heading into the new year, or simply enjoy a festive day out with your loved ones at our magical oasis in the centre of Newquay.

This event is the perfect winter activity for families, with workshops and activities that will inspire creativity, collaboration and mindfulness. Tickets include:
 One morning workshop of your choice
 One afternoon workshop of your choice
 A pre-ordered Christmas lunch lovingly prepared by the Heart and Soul Kitchen team

Morning Workshops (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Newquay Monoliths Clay/Ceramics Workshop

Venue: Classrooms 1 and 2
Guided by artist Robin James Sullivan, participants will create and shape their own ceramic panels using locally gathered materials which will adorn The Newquay Monoliths – a new public sculpture commission for Newquay.

Winter Solstice Mindfulness Workshop

Venue: Orchard Gardens
In this workshop we will be learning about the origins of the winter solstice, drinking
some warming wellness tea, and doing a short ceremony to celebrate the year so far
and welcome the next part of the year. We will practice some mindfulness
techniques, discuss winter wellbeing and make a small nature lantern to represent
solstice at the orchard.

Hearty Lunch (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
Enjoy a pre-ordered warming lunch sourced locally and utilising ingredients from the surrounding gardens, served from our dedicated volunteers in the Heart and Soul Kitchen team.

Afternoon Workshops (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Guided Nature Tour & Advent-Themed Scavenger Hunt
Venue: Orchard Gardens
Explore the Orchard Gardens with an engaging family-friendly scavenger hunt featuring festive treasures.

Sustainability & Recycling Workshop by Beach Guardian
Venue: Classrooms 1 and 2
Discover how to repurpose waste materials into new products and learn practical ways to live more sustainably.

Additional Activities
The Heart and Soul Café will be open all day, serving festive treats and drinks crafted by our dedicated volunteers.

Cost: £10.00 per person (includes two workshops, lunch, and access to all event activities).
