Digital Discovery Day at Newquay Orchard

Join the Digital Discovery day to learn and explore new digital experiences such as Virtual Reality, 3D printing and citizen science. This will be a playful and fun day workshop with lots of hands-on activities. Come and find out about how to use digital technology to make things, experience new spaces and also to connect with nature.
The day is open to all levels and abilities and no prior digital skills or experience is required.
In the morning session we making and doing with creative technology – we will learn together about how to 3D print a simple design and also about how to 3D scan a space to view in a VR headset. In the afternoon we will be learning about how to do a bioblitz activity using citizen science tools to explore nature and will get the chance to explore Newquay Orchard’s gardens (weather permitting).
The activity will take place at Newquay Community Orchard; a beautiful 7-acre community space for all ages and all species. Lunch will be provided in the café.
The day will be supported by a University of Plymouth academic staff and by Pollenize CIC who are a leading biodiversity organisation.
The scheme has been set up to help disadvantaged children access physical activities and so if your family is in receipt of Free School Meals vouchers, your child is eligible to take part in Time2Move programmes for free.
