OUR ENTERPRISES

URBAN BIODIVERSITY
Urban Biodiversity is a multi award winning Community Interest Company based in Cornwall that aims to reduce social deprivation by developing urban sites into places that offer environmental growth, community benefit and a fair chance for all.
Newquay Orchard is an award-winning multifunctional community space designed to improve people’s perception on the environment; provide education; mental health therapy; food security; community events; and develop environmentally sustainable economic growth. The Orchard is set in 7-acres of land in the heart of Newquay and is currently under construction to provide wildlife areas, woodland, community growing space, amphitheatres, and a community building and café.
We want a society that is environmentally conscious, a sustainable community that works for each other and to put an end to social deprivation giving a fair chance in life for all. Our activities empower local communities with the skills and opportunities to improve their surroundings for the betterment of their health and wellbeing, and for the betterment of their natural environment.

KREFT MAKER SPACE
Creativity is in our values and there is no better example of putting this into practice than Kreft (Cornish for craft), our new community maker space.
Kreft includes an educational hand tool facility, a fully equipt woodworkshop, including a CNC router and floor standing equipment, and a technical studio space, housing a laser cutter and 3D printers.

GROWN BY NEWQUAY ORCHARD
Grown by Newquay Orchard is more than just a weekly veg box. You will have a direct relationship to the land providing your produce. You will be able to meet the people growing your food. You will be a part of our community supported agriculture (CSA). You will share in our harvest.
Grown by Newquay Orchard is based at Fentenfenna Farm in the village of Ruthvoes, which is a 7-mile drive from Newquay. We are growing on a 2 acre plot which will scale up to 4 acres within 4 years. We want to provide our local community with the freshest, community grown, pesticide free produce. We aim to feed 45 households with a weekly veg box in the first year, and this will grow with up to 120 households able to become members in four years.
As a member of Grown by Newquay Orchard you’ll receive a weekly veg box full to the brim with seasonal vegetables grown to organic principles. Part of the aim is to reduce food miles and so pick up points will be at Newquay Orchard, St Columb and Ruthvoes. Your investment provides a reliable income for our CSA allowing us to grow sustainably and plan for the future.
