Newquay Orchard, in collaboration with Cornwall College, is delighted to announce the launch of two exciting adult education programs.

These courses are tailored for adults, providing an opportunity not only to learn new skills but also to build friendships, boost wellbeing, and gain confidence. Alongside learning sustainable horticultural practices and techniques right here in the heart of Newquay!

Dive into a New Learning Adventure

Our 1-day-a-week courses, over 15 /16 weeks, promise hands-on experience in the great outdoors, learning practical skills like laying a patio, building a fence, practical horticulture skills and employability skills, all in the vibrant atmosphere of our growing and learning spaces.


What to Expect

Practical Mornings:

The mornings are dedicated to outdoor activities, hand on learning and getting stuck in – equipping you with valuable skills useful in life and work.

Free Lunch!:

Following the practical morning session we break for lunch in our cafe; Heart and Soul. You’ll get a delicious free lunch, setting you up for the second half of the day.

Afternoon Classroom Sessions:

In the afternoons, we dive into classroom sessions focusing on employment skills such as CV writing and interview techniques. This ensures you’re not just gaining skills; you’re setting the stage for a successful journey towards employment or a fulfilling career change.


Eligibility

Wondering if these courses are for you? All courses are fully funded, so If you’re 19 or over and earn less than £20,319 annually, you’re eligible!


Course Spotlight: Community Learning

  • Start Date: January 9th 2024
  • Completion Date: April 14th 2024
  • Duration: 15 weeks (1 day a week)
Highlights:

Comprehensive Support: Learning sustainable horticultural practices, coaching support for your wellbeing and next steps, and community engagement.

Employability Skills: Gain essential skills for effective job searching and interview preparation.

Confidence and Motivation: Foster personal growth through meeting new people and exploration of new interests.


Course Spotlight: Learning Progression and Employability (LEAP)

  • Start Date: January 4th, 2024
  • Completion Date: April 18, 2024
  • Duration: 16 weeks (1 day a week)
Highlights:

Confidence Building: Learners are immersed in real-world experiences within the Land-Based industry, enhancing their confidence and preparing them for the challenges of the workplace.

Career Transition Support: Explore new industries and make informed decisions about your future career path.

Wellbeing Through Nature Connection: Discover the vital role of nature in society, promoting overall well being, connection and a deeper understanding of the important connections between humans and the environment.

  • When: 4th December or 12th December
  • Time: Drop in from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (No need to book!)
  • Where: In the classrooms at Newquay Orchard
